Impact of Twitter in Haiti

Ever wonder what role Twitter and other social media sites serve in ministry?

Ever doubt the impact Twitter can have in changing lives?

Meet Shaun King.

Shaun is a pastor in Atlanta, GA. Back 50 years ago, Shaun’s impact would be limited to the people in his church family and immediate surroundings. But that was before Al Gore invented the Internet, before cell phones could fit in your pocket, and before the advent of social media sites.

Today, Shaun’s impact is felt globally. By leveraging his network of connections on Twitter, Shaun has been doing amazing works for the Kingdom of God. His ability to get donations, volunteers, and other like-minded people to rally behind his campaigns is a gift only God could grant someone.

Look at what he has done in response to the earthquake in Haiti. He raised $5k to purchase much needed laptops for relief workers on the ground in Haiti. He found 5 neurosurgeons willing to volunteer their services in Haiti, and arranged to fly them to Haiti. When he heard of an orphanage’s plight, he put the call out for immediate assistance. A few hours later, help came. The amazing part? Shaun has done all of this from Atlanta.

And the miracles are still coming. As I write this post, Shaun is trying to arrange transportation to the USA for a 4 year old Haitian boy stricken with leukemia.

In the Old Testament, the hand of God was seen in a burning bush, a parted sea, and fire from heaven. In the New Testament, miracles included a few loaves of bread, a walking man, and an empty tomb. Today, the Spirit of God is seen in His children using technology to literally save lives. Thank you, Shaun.
